The following picture was taken during the 1934 Abingdon Trial when the car ws about 8 weeks old. It appears in very standard trim with no radiator guard, spot light or knobbly tires seen in later pictures.
Note the condition of the hill and the steepness. With a marshall standing on the side of the hill, he may have been administering a stop/start test.
The pdf file M.G. Magazine - March 1935 records success in major Trials:
1. Bill Haden along with Ken Crawford and Austen May winning the team prize for the M.G. CC Midland Center team in the 1935 Chiltern Trial.
2. Bill Haden winning the 1935 Colmore Trial
3. Picture of Bill Haden making a clean run on "Ibberton" in the 1935 Land's end Trial
4. Bill Haden, again with Ken Crawford and Austen May winning
the team prize in the 1935 London - Gloucester Trial.
According to Austen May Bill Haden was disappointed that he did not get
a 1st class award. Doing so would have earned a coveted "Gloucester Goblet"
awarded for those achieving a 1st class award three years running.

The following picture is of Bill Haden and his usual female
passenger without their hats.
The back of the picture states that this is the Brighton-Beer
Trial and the hill is Firle Hill
